How To Lose Weight

Eating and parking in front of the television or computer is to many irresistible.  That is why some people find it very difficult to let go of this enjoyable activity.  When dressing for a certain occasion comes up, the concerns automatically zero in to a very vital issue: body figure.  So what do you initially do aside from the initial gasp of surprise?  Most people resort to crash dieting.  Others maintain an intimate relationship with the yoyo diet wherein whenever a big occasion needs to show some nice body figure, crash diet is handy.  It sometimes comes in the form of a pill, skipping mills and vigorous exercise, and other gadgets that do wonders to the unwanted bulges.

But this can have negative effects on the body.  Although pills can be taken under a doctor’s supervision, the body can still suffer from minor to major damages.  The best thing to do when you are aiming to have a nice figure is to maintain a healthy body. 

Maintaining weight is a lifetime commitment.  When you are young, if you got the good genes, you can eat anything you want without gaining a few pounds.  Or for a fast metabolism, you can shake off thick chocolate milkshake with just few minutes of physical activity.  By this time, losing weight is not much of a priority.  Well, unless you are on the heavier side.  But if you have the tendency to gain pounds with a few fries and  a burger, then you should watch your food intake carefully. 

For older people, losing weight is a long and sometimes frustrating battle.  This is the stage where you do not only compete with the enticing foods offered to you but also the way your body absorbs them into unwanted bulges.  By this time careful planning and implementing of a good weight loss management program is needed. 

Knowing your body is the most important advantage you can have if you are after losing weight.  Your body, which is the principal performer on this battle should be your ally not your enemy.  How would you do it? 

First, know your build.  Are you medium build, or big boned?  Do you bloat easily?  Are you of sound health?  Knowing these things is important before you start losing weight.  Here’s why:

  • If you are planning to show off your figure, let go of the salt in your fries and other dishes.  The excess sodium makes you look bloated.  Drink plenty of water instead.
  • Are you big boned?  If you are then maybe you should try re-assessing how you see yourself.  Maybe you should focus more on changing your wardrobe rather than your body size.
  • How do you eat?  If you tend to binge, maybe you should avoid eating out alone.  Listening to your body is important.  Do not see foods as an enemy and do not just cut off food from your diet just because it contains many calories.  The trick is, do not deprive yourself of good treats, and take them in small servings to satisfy your hunger and cravings.
