Some people would like to try the Atkins diet, but don't because they are afraid that they won't be able to find the foods that they can eat, so they give up before they've even started.
In fact, it isn't very hard to find low carb foods for the Atkins diet or other low carb diets. It's often easy to find low carb foods in a supermarket. Many of them have a low-carb section. Some supermarkets even have a section with "official" Atkins products.
A smaller, local shop probably won't have special section for low carb products, but that doesn't mean you won't be able to find them. Most prepared foods list the carb content on the label. You can use a carb counter to determine the carb content of fresh foods. Carb counter apps are available for cell phones and iPhones.
You can even stay on the Atkins diet when dining out. When ordering food in a restaurant, ask that dishes be served without sauces or other high carb toppings. Some restaurants even have low carb versions of dishes.
If you want to cook, you can find recipes in low carb cookbooks, which you can find in the library, in bookstores and on the internet. |
