More and more people nowadays are exercising more caution because they have become aware of the dangerous effects of chemicals that are directly or indirectly ingested through their diets. There is now an increasing awareness that alcohol, fast food, and nutrition and diet fads have serious, if not fatal, consequences. However, there is a way to avoid this, and one of them is detoxification. While many are still skeptical about this, many people have extolled detoxification as beneficial, from improving moods to curing diseases and even losing weight.

One of the most popular ways to detoxify is through water fast. Many people have tried this type of fasting, and while it may prove to be one of the most difficult ordeals that an individual can experience, it has also been one of the most rewarding.

Before beginning the water detox regimen, it is recommended that the body should be prepared by drinking only fresh juices and raw, soft food. Through this, your body will be able toughen, and it will be able to cope with withdrawal and the surfacing of chemicals once the water detoxification has begun. It is also recommended that the water fast should be continued until the weekend if you don't foresee a lot of stress in the coming days.

Be sure to see your health care practitioner or doctor first. If you are suffering from conditions like diabetes, hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, cardiac illnesses or psychological disorders, water detoxification diet might not be for you. Once your doctor gives you the go-signal, remember these rules of the thumb: avoid drinking water that came straight out of the faucet. This can contain a lot of harmful substances like heavy metals, pollutants, trace elements, and mineral salts. This can render your water detoxification regimen futile. Mineral water still has a lot of inorganic materials that can be harmful to the program in the long run. Distilled water is recommended instead.

During the fast, you may experience a bit of dizziness, but don't worry because it just means that your heart is resting during the fast. Stand up or sit down very slowly so that you won't add to the dizziness and nausea. The waste levels in the body will also go up during detoxification, causing fever and headaches in some people. These won't last long. As soon as water passes through the system, these symptoms will disappear.

If water detoxification is too much, then you can just take care to drink at least 2 liters of water per day. This much water can aid the body in distributing nutrients to different systems. It can also decrease our temperature if we feel hot and flush out bacteria and other wastes.
