Detoxification is all the rage lately. This concept is not new; in fact, it has existed for many years. It used to be disregarded by many, but nowadays, more and more people are finding interest in detoxification, and many feel that they need this very badly. This may be due to the fear of the increasing number of diseases over the past few years. Slow but continuous exposure to numerous toxins and free radicals present in our environment will inevitably lead to the build-up of toxins inside the body. Harmful and toxic substances can be found in the air, water, and food products that we ingest every day. Some toxins can even be found in medications, especially those used to treat cancer. This can be very alarming, because of the fact that toxins seem to be inescapable: to fight toxins you still have to consume more toxins. Today, one of the most amazing yet harmless programs of detoxification is the cabbage detox diet. Cabbages have been known to have some properties that have the benefit of preventing cancer and other illnesses. The cabbage detox diet normally has a detoxification program that extends for 7 days or one whole week. During this period, the individual only ingests diet, whether in raw form or in soup form. The cabbage detox diet will not only eliminate toxins from the body, it can also help an individual lose weight. Like all other diet regimens, the cabbage detox diet can also bring about negative consequences on the body. This kind of diet is proved useless or futile for someone who is used to consuming spicy and full-flavored foods. The individual may not be able to bear the bland and taste-less dish, and this diet could prove to be difficult for him or her. Others do not like the lack of variety in eating only cabbages for one whole week. Another possible negative effect of the cabbage detox diet is the build-up of salt. Additionally, it is not as rich in vitamins and nutrients as other diet regimens. Because of the possible harmful effects of the cabbage detox diet, it is recommended that this should not be implemented for very long periods of time. The individual might suffer more complications due to incomplete nutrition requirements. Doing the diet once in 4 months would suffice, if there is really a need for detoxification. Aside from the cabbage detox diet, there are a lot more diet food programs that are available to those who find it boring to munch cabbages for one whole week. Detoxification can also be a welcome effect of eating raw fruits and vegetables. Just remember to eat healthy and avoid toxins, because the primary goal of detoxification procedures is to get rid of the accumulated wastes in the system. Foods that are rich in starch and fats should be avoided, as well as canned foods, caffeine, tea, and sugar. By preventing the build-up of toxins instead of just curing it, you will not need to detoxify in the first place. |
